ART of HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA
With its British history dating back to 1749, Halifax is a coastal city with beautiful historic buildings and sites. In 2015, my daughter and I became concerned by the number of new developments under construction in the older sections of town and I decided to paint some of our favourite sites, buildings, and structures before they disappeared.
As for the ink sketches, they are the result of an urge to simply and quickly reproduce a bit of captivating scenery. Halifax, and Nova Scotia at large, offers endless vistas for photographer, illustrator, and painter, and I've only just begun to seize the opportunity to render those vistas in the moment.
Nova Scotia is part of the Mi’kma’ki , the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People.
